    Job Summary

    The Global Indirect Buyer – CAPEX will manage the entire commercial supplier relationship for CAPEX related categories assigned with main focus on Production Equipment and Engineering System Test needs. This includes, but not limited to, supplier strategy development, supplier qualification, terms and conditions execution, price negotiation, stakeholder and supplier relationship management.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Negotiates agreement by analyzing supplier quotations and terms considering target conditions.
    • Cross-functional work intimately with internal Stakeholders as well as collaboration with other Magna divisions to identify synergies, utilizing this leverage to obtain the most competitive commercial conditions and finally helps steer the selection to preferred suppliers.
    • Acts as global CAPEX lead for Production Equipment and Engineering System Test needs within the Indirect Purchasing team and assists with global or regional initiatives as assigned.
    • Locates new sources of supply and establishes new suppliers together with internal Stakeholders and by collaborating with other Magna divisions.
    • Develops and maintains a strong relationship with strategic suppliers.
    • Conducts regular supplier performance evaluations / supplier assessments based on globally defined and aligned criteria.
    • Leads continuous improvement activities that may include developing programs to improve supplier performance.
    • Facilitates cross-functional activities such as supplier business review meetings, audits, and cost saving initiatives.
    • Studies future CAPEX related business requirements driven by the company strategy.
    • Develops a strong understanding and knowledge of suppliers and their capabilities including CAPEX specific trends, technology, opportunities and challenges.
    • Implements strategies and solutions to improve cost levels, stable sources of supply, high quality of services and other governing factors related to the Purchasing Department and adjacent areas.
    • Tracks key performance indicators, such as cost savings and activities to achieve key objectives.
    • Resolves escalation issues and finds resolution including contract compliance failures.
    • Implements and ensures compliance of indirect policies and procedures, including IATF 16949 requirements.
    • Leads and facilitates the strategic source selection and approval process, obtain approval and maintain records.
    • Interfaces with the Legal Department to review agreements and obtains approval or recommendation prior to execution of the agreements.
    • Previous experience in Purchasing and negotiations are required.

    Education

    • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, engineering, or business administration – Required
    • Master’s degree in business or engineering – Desired
    • Business Finance Training – Desired

    Knowledge

    • Deep and comprehensive knowledge of product development practices in the automotive field.
    • Knowledge of the application and delivery of advanced electronic systems into the automotive industry.
    • Must be able to show evidence of expert problem solving skills as well as keen analytical abilities in a teamwork setting.
    • Must be able to show evidence of expert knowledge in risk management.
    • Comprehensive working knowledge of the Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC).
    • Willingness to perform „hands-on“ work
