Mercedes-Benz Ludwigsfelde GmbH, located in the south of Berlin, produces Sprinter Vans for the European, American and Asian market. The electric Sprinter version is also assembled at this location. The team of ITV/B has responsibility to operate all plant related applications for Mercedes Benz Ludwigsfelde GmbH. Around 20 high motivated and business orientated team member are doing everything regarding the daily business which can be optimizing processes and systems in our plant, creating new solutions along industry 4.0 tool chain, driving digitalization in our plant, devolping new data driven mindset with our business partners across the plant and VAN division. The job as a Software Engineer ITV/B containts design, building, configuration and tests of IT solutions (business applications) according to customer requirements in our production plant. He/she works in VAN-wide Dev-Ops Teams using agile development methods to create business value by implementing new software and functions. Responsibilities

    • Defines Software structures, modules and design patterns
    • Identifies, uses and documents Software libraries e.g. Open source libraries, APIs
    • Writes high quality, efficient, maintainable code based on specification that is scalable over all VAN plants
    • Designs, develops, tests, deploys, maintains and improves software working in international DevSecOps Teams
    • Continuously improves the architecture and quality of the code
    • Analyzes requirements and builds data pipeline and models for new software and data analytics applications
    • Defines ways to capture the relevant data and pre-processes and cleans the data for analysis
    • Advises and assists the users in respective business area regarding their relevant IT environment
    • Implements functions and configures business applications according to the specification
    • Troubleshoots, debugs, upgrades and operates existing software
    • Estimates implementation effort and performs feasibility checks of requirements
    • Supports projects and actively participates in the related international Center of Competencies (CoC)

    Qualifications

    • Solid Computer Science fundamentals with knowledge of data structures, algorithms and software design
    • Solid knowledge of one or more Programming languages (C++, Python, Java, NodeJS etc.)
    • Software development lifecycle methodologies like Agile/SCRUM, Test- driven development and tools like JIRA
    • Good knowledge of Usability Engineering (UX)
    • Good knowledge of RESTful APIs
    • Good knowledge of Business Intelligence and visualization tools
    • Advanced technical skills in Database and SQL
    • Basic Knowledge of big data technologies (Hadoop, Hive, HBase, Spark, etc.)
    • Good technological application knowledge about common IT systems and tools
    • Bachelors or Master’s degree (or similar qualification) in Computer Science
    • Experience in a consulting or client-facing environment
    • Experience in a production environment will be a plus
    • Ability to understand internal business processes
    • Willingness to share knowledge, give talks and teamwork
    • High sense of responsibility and ability to work unsupervised
    • Language Skills: German and English – fluent and/or native
