    A big challenge in the development of automated driving software is the generation, annotation and handling of training data for our machine learning development. As a data engineer, you work with labelling and infrastructure teams in order to realize scalable and traceable workflows for data processing that in turn enable our deep learning development for scene understanding and prediction of the autonomous vehicles.

    Your tasks and responsibilities will be:

    • You automate data pipelines and workflows for data driven development, especially for machine learning use cases
    • You develop storage concepts, relational and non-relational databases and other data management solutions
    • You design, implement, integrate, and test such solutions in our machine learning platform and build monitoring systems and web-based dashboards
    • You ensure scalability and efficiency as needed for large-scale data processing
    • You analyze and evaluate the requirements of the workflows and data platform and derive suitable state-of-the-art concepts
    • You synchronize with your stakeholders, e.g., machine learning developers, data recording, and data labeling
    • You strongly interact and collaborate with international peer groups from different departments within Mercedes-Benz, Daimler and with collaboration partners, as part of an innovative global team developing the next gen ADAS/AD software stacks
    • You monitor relevant approaches in the market and assess their relevance for our ADAS and AD Projects
    • You maintain excellent contacts with universities and other partners in related Areas

    Ideally, you bring the following qualifications and experiences

    • M.Sc. with excellent grades and preferably 3 years of professional experiences or Ph.D. in computer science, engineering, robotics, or a related area
      Several years of experience with modern database systems, data compute, and storage components using cloud platforms (preferably Azure)
    • Deep understanding in database structures and principles behind relational/non-relational databases
    • Excellent knowledge of Object-Relational Mapping (ORM), SQL, database performance optimizations and scalability concepts
    • Excellent programming skills and hands-on experiences with Python
    • Experiences with technologies such as Django, SQLAlchemy, Flask, REST, Docker, Kubernetes, workflow automation and with modern deep learning approaches
    • Strong practical experiences in large scale software development with modern development processes, in particular source code management, unit tests, code reviews, issue tracking and development on Linux
    • Fluent in English, German is a plus

    Personal Skills:

    • A high degree of initiative, independence and commitment
