    You will work closely with other Software and Systems Architects as well as Systems Design and Safety Experts to lay out the architecture of Daimler’s autonomous trucks. Your team is embedded in a lean-agile organization spanning multiple continents and time zones and including colleagues from Torc Robotics and Daimler Trucks North America.

      Your Responsibilities:

    • Derive product requirements from external stakeholders, regulatory bodies, liability review and societal expectations
    • Research and interpret data, define functional design requirements and architecture for the TORC Virtual Driver and related systems in the Autonomous Ecosystem
    • Ensure security, performance, manageability, quality, and consistency of the product requirement specification across the systems and provide technical guidance to development teams
    • Support design discussions regarding technical details of cross organization, spanning across hardware, software, functional safety, verification and validation
    • Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and processes to ensure the highest quality product platform
    • Develop system requirement specification including description of the dynamic driving task, functional flow block diagrams, requirement derivation and allocation to components
    • Maintain traceability between different levels of requirements as well as mapping to verification tests throughout the product life cycle including planned iteration and requirement modifications under consideration of system design and requirements engineering best practices
    • Collaborate closely with functional safety engineering teams to ensure the design process is aligned with safety requirement definitions with respect to safety goals, industry best practices as defined in ISO 26262 (FuSa), ISO 21448 (SOTIF), and other emerging standards
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, computer science, robotics, electrical engineering or related technical field
    • Experience in requirements engineering for automotive, robotic, aerospace system or other safety critical applications; Automotive active safety or autonomy experience is desired
    • Experience writing requirements and use of a requirements management system
    • Experience in systems-level thinking as well as development processes of complex physical and software systems used in automated, self-driving vehicles
    • Broad understanding of engineering fundamentals in software, networking, electrical, and mechanical systems, system components and system design & requirements engineering standards
    • Basic understanding of functional safety analysis processes (HAZOP, FMEA, STPA, FTA)
    • Familiarity with model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE, SysML / UML)
    • Programming experience in C++ and Python is beneficial
    • Multimodal sensor usage and knowledge background is beneficial
    • Passion for continuous education and training in the engineering field to maintain the highest level of ingenuity and creative thinking
    • Strong engineering communication skills in both written documentation and verbal presentation, especially the ability to communicate complex technical issues to a diverse team
    • High level of self-organization and efficient in process management
    • Strong time management and organizational skills to plan, develop, and maintain projects and initiatives simultaneously
    • Ability to thrive in a face-paced environment with quickly changing business needs
    • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information maturely
    • Strong English and German presentation and communication skills
    • Willingness to work and collaborate with remote locations over different time zones and to travel domestically and internationally
