    Technical Artist (f/m/x)

WRITING CODE IS GOOD. ENSURING CODE RUNS SEAMLESSLY IS BETTER.

    SHARE YOUR PASSION.

With vehicle software becoming ever more complex, the future of mobility will be determined not just by who uses the cleverest algorithms, but by how they are integrated. Modern tools are required for codes to have an impact where it counts. However, even more important are the right people, whose perspective ensures that all these separate elements will “come together on the road”. As an integral member of an innovative team, you’ll work on cutting-edge products and services that drive the performance of our vehicles, making an essential contribution to the success of the BMW Group.

In our department we shape the future digital user experience for our car-infotainment functions and define the technical interfaces and acceptance criteria for the graphic pipeline.

    What awaits you?

    • The composing of 2d and 3d scenes and widgets from assets to create a rich Linux and Android based UIs is part of your tasks.
    • You will set-up an asset structure and asset interfaces with internal design departments and external asset creation partners.
    • The implementation of a logic to control graphical assets is part of your job.
    • You will be the bridge between concept design and technical UI/rendering engine development.
    • You will be responsible for design assets and asset interaction and always keep the trade-off between performance and perfect look-and-feel in mind.
    • The configuration of the graphic pipeline in respect to the required result like setup of render targets and render passes, etc. is part of your responsibility.
    • You are shaping the asset creation toolchain in order to have a scalable setup for world-wide distributed feature teams.
    • Furthermore you ensure an overall graphical consistency across all displays in the car.
    • The Project Management for external graphics/asset suppliers completes your job profile.

    What should you bring along?

    • University degree in Computer Science or a comparable course of study.
    • Very good technical knowledge regarding performance optimization and real-time rendering.
    • Excellent understanding of real-time graphics assets and basic rendering techniques (lo/hi poly geometry, texturing, UV mapping, shaders, HDR, antialiasing) and their impact on runtime performance and memory footprint.
    • Good understanding of asset exporting from various DCC tools – Maya, Blender, 3D Studio Max, Photoshop.
    • Proficient in Python and LUA scripting language.
